Description
Lee SW150 Resin Neutral Density Filter. 1-3 Stops
If the Neutral Density Grad filter represents the building block for any landscape photographer, the Neutral Density ‘standard’ is the next essential addition. When faced with scenes with bright light or inconsistent or changeable lighting. Conditions like the movement of clouds changing light levels for example, that an ND filter proves useful. Neutral Density filters can reduce the light up to 3 stops. It absorbs light evenly across the visible spectrum, therefore reducing the light entering the lens without affecting the image colour.
Traditionally used on film for extending shutter speeds in bright conditions, they are just as essential to digital photographers for reducing the sensitivity of sensor chips on cameras which have relatively high minimum ISO settings.
They can be used in combination with ND Grads as well with colour filters and colour grad filters as the ND Standard filters will not affect the colour balance of the image. Lee Filters manufacture the filters from optical grade resin and the filters are hand dipped for consistency and accuracy. They represent amongst the finest filters of their kind available.
Another benefit of using a ND filter as that by allowing the photographer to select a slower shutter speed, a sense of movement can be given to an otherwise static image. So water tumbling over rocks isn’t frozen or stilled but imbued with flow and animation. Equally it can allow the photographer to use a faster aperture and reduce depth of field to isolate the subject, either for portraiture or the sharp contrast of a single flower against a softly out of focus meadow.
The Lee SW150 Resin Neutral Density ‘Standard’ filters is 150x150mm. They are made from highest quality optical resin. Filters are available in
ND0.3 ( 1 Stop )
ND0.45 ( 1.5 Stop ) ( Special Order )
ND0.6 ( 2 Stop )
ND0.75 ( 2.5 Stop ) ( Special Order )
ND0.9 ( 3 Stop )
Lee also manufacture the filters for the Lee Seven5, Lee 85, and Lee 100 Systems.
Photographers who may require even higher density filters should consider the Lee Little Stopper ( 6 Stops ), Lee Big Stopper ( 10 Stops ), Lee Super Stopper ( 15 Stops ), or the Lee ProGlass IRND Filters Range.
