Lee SW150 Neutral Density Graduated Filter ( Reverse Grad )
Lee Filters SW150 Neutral Density Graduated Filter ( Reverse Grad ). The SW150 filter system is suited to medium format, large format and extreme lenses like ultra wides, ultra wide zooms and shift lenses.
The newest member of the Lee Filters range of graduated filters. The Lee Reverse Grad series is a unique and distinctive range that serves a very particular need. Landscape photographers who loved to shoot sunrises and sunsets soon found themselves faced with great difficulty in balancing out the exposure. With the brightness of the sun, the contrast between the lightening sky and the still dark foreground was difficult to capture.
The reverse grad filters is unique because when looked at, the filter is at it’s darkest in the centre line. It gradually transitions towards the top of the filter. The lower half remains clear. The tinted centre line allows the photographer to place the darkest part on the sunrise or sunset and then balance the exposure for the rest of the scene.
Like all the Lee resin filters, the reverse grad is made by hand at the Lee Filters factory in England. Using optical grade resin, the filters are individually hand dipped until they achieve the required density and degree of graduation. It’s very exacting and a tribute to the skill available at Lee Filters that the filters are so uniform. They are then individually tested for exposure density before being hand polished and packed.
The filters supplied by Lee Filters have a reputation for exposure consistency, smooth even gradation and colour neutrality.
The reverse grad filters areย available in 3 filter densities;
ND0.6 ( 2 Stop )
ND0.9 ( 3 Stop )
ND1.2 ( 4 Stop )
The SW150 Graduated filters are 150 x 170mm in size and 2mm in thickness. Each filter is supplied with a soft padded pouch.
